Most companies have problems that can be traced to poor communications. We hear employees complain: Why don’t I know what is going on? What are the priorities? Why are there so many problems? Why can’t people get along? Why are things constantly changing? Many employees have experienced or witnessed others questioning what they are told to do, only to be flattened by critical feedback. This stresses the importance of clear information and feedback from management. Poor communications between departments, between organizational layers, with vendors, suppliers and customers is measured by lost profits, productivity and sales. With the cost of business rising and the challenge of doing more in less time, with less staff — the first problem to address is COMMUNICATION. We no longer have the luxury of time or money to spend needlessly on communication problems. Poor communications costs you money, increases rework, lowers morale and gives your competitors an opening to your current and potential customers.

The need to improve communication and productivity is crucial. Mistakes and misunderstandings can create internal problems and result in poor quality and service errors effecting customers. The goal to improve communications is clear to everyone — the issue is how. That’s what this development series is all about. The measurement of our success is your satisfaction — we guarantee it!

How do you see the effectiveness of communications in your company?

Is there trust between management and employees? Are there constant department battles? Are there errors dueto missed communications? Do managers communicate with confidence? Is there more criticism than constructive feedback? Do you have a communications strategy promoting your image? Are issues communicated in time to avert problems? How do you respond to customer feedback? How do you reward mistakes?

Communications Program

The issue of effective communications still challenges most organizations at all levels. The goal of improving communications is vital to overall profitability and productivity. The following workshops provide a comprehensive approach to improving communications.

Communicating With Customers - Participants will, by lecture, discussion and practice, improve their communication with internal and external customers. Areas of learning include constructive feedback, reinforcing desirable behavior, mutual support, and selling ideas.

Dealing With Different Personality And Behavioral Types - Participants will use a leading Behavior Style Inventory Assessment to find their own type. Using the assessment, we will consider the typical behaviors, strengths and weaknesses for each type. We will also address difficult behavioral patterns and how to cope with them. Participants will develop self-confidence and the skill to identify situations and ways to deal with different personalities.

Behavioral Communications - Program is designed to give specifics in communicating desired behavior changes to improve relationships and results. The model helps participants to use START, STOP, CONTINUE phases to get their messages understood. This workshop is very effective in dealing with harassment, abusive work situations and performance problems.

Seeking to Understand, Before Judging - A unique approach to increasing your ability to understand others and why they think, act and behave as they do. This workshop develops your ability to seek information and rationally understand the data and then carefully consider your response.

Communications is more than talking and listening, it is understanding.

Communication Skills For Team Building - This workshop will focus on skills needed for team building and on specific communication challenges the bring to the participants discussion. Topics include: constructive feedback, reinforcing desirable behavior, conveying information, planning and problem-solving.

Oral Presentations - Share your vision, your knowledge and your thoughts with groups and individuals in order to achieve your organization's goals, develop productive relationships and sell your products, services and ideas. Participants will analyze audiences, organize messages, polish language use skills, and deliver presentations to inform and persuade.

Written Communications - Everyone in your organization needs to present ideas, strategies and plans to inform, persuade and communicate with others in writing. Participants will have an opportunity to enhance their written communications.

Giving and Getting Helpful Feedback - For each of us to improve in our work and in our personal lives, feedback is essential. We often avoid wanting to give or get feedback for fear of embarrassment or hurting someone. This session focuses on the need for complimentary and constructive feedback to improve relationships and results. Negative forms of feedback are discussed to show how they can be harmful to improving relationships and results.
